I am assisting several Wells families to participate in the Wells DNA Project. At present, over 250 have submitted DNA samples. This project will go a long way to solve many genealogical mysteries. I need finding additional information for George Wells who appeared in the 1840 Telfair County census. His descendants want to participate in the DNA study, but we know little or nothing about George other than what the census provides. He is not part of the "other" Wells family in Telfair County. Can someone make a check of local tax records/land records to see if he is mentioned. We know that the family moved to Lowndes County about 1847 and George Wells died there in 1849-1850. His sons gave Georg'es birthplace as New Hampshire which leads us to suspect that he came to Telfair County with the northerners who worked in the timber industry. Thanks!
