need help locating family origins of William Henry Cohen

The family lore is that William Henry killed a man in Georgia and fled to Florida.
Supposedley, there were two brothers that came looking for him in Florida and he also killed them.

I am unsure of his last name (family lore is that it was changed). Also, I am unsure of
his first wife's last name, my grandmother who is 90 thinks that it was McClinton.

All of his children were supposedley born in Georgia, I can not find proof of their birth.

William Henry COHEN was born 1/12/abt 1846 in Appling County, Georgia.
He died 12 Jan 1912 in Seville, Florida Volusia County.

William Henry Cohen married Mattie MCCLINTON. Mattie was buried in Osteen, Florida.
Per Jennie Mae Giddens Cohen, Mattie was buried in unmarked grave in Osteen, Florida
Eva Bennett showed her daughter Niccie Cohen, burial place (now deceased)now unknown.

william henry Cohen indicated on his soldiers pension that he was born on the 12th day of January, However his year of birth is indicated as 1838 & 1842 (2 different year in same application). He indicated he was first born in Coffee County, then Appling County
He enlisted at Homerville, Georgia in 1862 in Company I, Regiment 4, under John Nichols.
He was honrably discharged in April 1865 in Clinch County. He was paid pension in the State of Florida.

They had the following children:

1st child
William Joseph COHEN "Grandpa Joe" was born 8 Aug 1882 (unknown in Georgia).
He died 23 Feb 1957 in Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Florida.
All children of William Jospeh and Doris Fannie were born in Osteen and attended school there.
Called Grandpa Joe, by Jennie Mae Giddens (Cohen)

2nd child
James Ephraim COHEN was born about 1880 (unknown Georiga). He died 7 Mar 1931 and was buried in Seville, Florida Volusia County.

3rd child
Ida COHEN (born unknown) Georgia was buried in Volusia County, Florida.

William HENRY COHEN also married (2) Gartha OWENS on 8 Mar 1884 in Florida.
She had a child from previous Georgia marriage
child: Norris TROWELL.

If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. This is my brickwall.
